il divo

Four years ago, I fell in love. I fell in love with four men! They were featured on Oprah by Simon Cowell, you know the judge on American Idol. He had put the group of tenors together to sing pop and classical pop. I was blown away by their performance on Oprah. I couldn't wait till their CD came out. I remember I went to Target to buy the CD because it also came with a dvd of them singing some of their songs on the CD. You could only find the CD/dvd combo at Target. I got up early on the Tuesday it was to come out, and went to Target on my way to work. I played the CD on the drive to work. It was torture to have to wait until I got home to watch the dvd.

I can't tell you how many people I have introduced to il divo. I can think of at least six friends at work alone. They are not for everyone. You either like them or you don't. There's no in between. If you like them, you REALLY like them, and you have to have every CD or DVD you can get your hands on. Every year when they announce their tour, I check to see if by any chance they are coming to Salt Lake City. Three years ago, my sister Alisa (a fan because of me) and I went to Portland, Oregon to see them. Alisa paid for our tickets to the concert. We had the best seats! We were so close I could see the small drops of sweat on their faces. It was amazing to see them in person. I still can feel those feelings from that night. It was awesome! One of the best gifts I have ever been given. This picture I was taken that night with my dorky camera.

Last year they were in Portland, LA, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Seattle and a couple of other close by places. I kept saying, why not Salt Lake City? Surely they have a large following here! This years tour was announced and again, no Salt Lake City. Then, last Friday, I received a text message from one of friends telling me to go check out the il divo website. I pulled it up and...there it was...three new cities have been added to their itenerary! Yep, you guessed it...Salt Lake City is one of them. They are coming on June 5th! I am just about willing to do almost anything to have a chance to go. Hopefully tickets will be available in a good spot, with a reasonable price tag. If I can't make it, it will be thrilling enough to know that they are in town. Wouldn't it be cool if they could sing with the MOTAB or something. Now that would be way cool.

Oh My!

I can't believe how much time has gone by since i started my blog. I thought that I could least get to it once a month. At least a whole year hasn't gone by before posting again. Today is April 1, so I decided that I would catch up on what I have been doing for the past seven months.

turned 54
became a grandma for the 10th time
worked a lot of overtime
taught young womens (mia maids)
made two quilt tops, finished one of them
went to Alaska for Christmas warmest day was 5 below!
threw a bridal shower for Chaulle
went to Spokane for Chaulle's wedding
lost a few pounds...still trying to loose more

I know that there are some more things, but my brain is dead right now. Each of those highlights have great stories behind them. I had a blast in Alaska, not becasue we went to tons of places, but because I spent time with my sister Alisa, Bob and my cute daddy. I missed Christmas with my family, but they managed to have a great Christmas without me.

The Beginning

Today begins a new beginning for me. I have decided to get on board with the newest trend of blogging. My daughter Wende (wendethemom.blogspot.com) and my daughter-law, April (jakenApril.blogspot.com), have put me to shame for quite sometime. They are dedicated to blogging. I will try to keep up with them, but I know that my entries will not be as creative and fun as theirs, but I will try! Some things that I will need to get in the habit of are:
  1. keeping a camera close by and on the ready!
  2. remember to blog!
  3. try to make it interesting!
I hope that I will find things of interest for everyone who may read my postings. I like the idea of having this as a journal of sorts, something that will be available for family across the US to ready and share their comments with me.

You will find out early in my postings that my children and my grandchildren are my pride and joy. I brag about them all to just about anyone I can corner and who will listen. Many of my friends know my kids and grandkids, even if they have not met them.

I also will talk a lot about my sisters and my dad. I have the best sisters in the whole world. We love each other so much, and share just about everything with each other. My dad is incredible and the smartest man I know. He has done some pretty incrediable things in his 87 years. You will hear about them, but here is a teaser...he invented and made the very first tater tot machine! Yep, that's right, the very first. When you see them in the store freezers, or served in a restaurant, you will now know who invented them, wayne jemmett!

Okay, so now I have gone in serveral directions, and I have rambled some. This is something I tend to do as well. Hopefully though, this is a good start for the first posting. I have some pretty incredible friends who help me make it through the work day, and friends from my ward who help me keep my testimony in check. I love them and will have to post about them as well.
